Dr. Kaye is the New England expert in Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy, having successfully treated hundreds of men and women.
What are bioidentical hormones?
They are natural hormones, identical to those normally produced in your own body. Examples are the estrogens: estrone, estradiol, estriol, testosterone, progesterone, the thyroid hormones: T2, T3, and T4, the adrenal hormones: DHEA, Cortisol, and Aldosterone, Growth Hormone, Insulin, and many, many others.
Bioidentical hormones stand in contrast to synthetic hormones such as Premarin, PremPro, Methyltestosterone, Progestins, bodybuilding steroids, and the various birth control pills. Synthetic hormones often carry significant adverse effects such as increased risks for cancer and blood clots while bioidenticals, when used at the proper doses, via the correct route, and in the correct combinations, are generally safe and beneficial to the human body. Of course every patient is unique and their regimen must take into account their medical history.
Hormone Level Testing
Dr. Kaye uses the most advanced tests available to monitor hormone levels; these include saliva tests, blood tests, and urine tests. In addition, he can check genetic variations and detoxification pathways to make sure you are using your hormones correctly.
Comprehensive Approach to Hormone Replacement Therapy
Hormones do not work in a vacuum; you must use proper nutrition, exercise, and diet when administering hormones to achieve optimal results. For this reason, all of Dr. Kaye's patients receive a nutritional, fitness, and diet regimen to follow while on BHRT.
Monitoring for any medical issues that may relate to BHRT is done by following saliva, serum, PSA and prostate exams in men and mammograms, thermograms, bone density, breast exams, saliva, serum, and urinary metabolite testing in women.
Who can benefit from BHRT?

Hormone Replacement Therapy Delivery Methods
Dr. Kaye offers some hard to find methods of hormone replacement including hormone implants, specially compounded creams to administer one or several hormones conveniently, brand name hormone patches, and injectables.
Implants release hormones directly into the bloodstream at a steady and predictable rate, lasting up to 5 months. No creams or injections or patches are needed for this method and in our experience, many patients respond very well with this type of BHRT. However, the method of delivery, like the dosage, is always personalized and is based on your goals and lifestyle as well as testing.
