IBS/GI Disorders

IBS and Gastrointestinal Disorders

At Optimal Wellness MD, we are experienced in diagnosing and treating causes of IBS and gut malfunction that may have been overlooked by your primary doctor or gastroenterologist. We take a functional medicine approach to your GI issues.

We use advanced testing to look for what shouldn’t be in your gut and remove it; we then replace what is missing and repair the damaged gut by advising you on a better diet, adding probiotics, or using high-quality supplements to support gut health. Diets we can recommend include Paleo, Keto, Autoimmune Paleo, GAPS, FODMAPS, and more, depending on your situation.

Conditions we have had success with include GERD, Food Allergies and Sensitivities, Gluten Sensitivity, Gastritis, H.Pylori Infections, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Constipation, SIBO (Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth), Infections from Yeasts and Fungi, and Dysbiosis (abnormal bacteria living in the gut), and eliminating parasites and worms.

We use advanced testing to diagnose these conditions including sophisticated stool testing that looks for the DNA of hidden parasites, digestion analysis, nutritional testing, the Heidelberg test for stomach acid deficiency or excess, breath testing for SIBO, blood tests for food sensitivities.

The gut is the root of good health; if your gut is infected by parasites, worm, or dangerous bacteria, you will typically experience bloating, abdominal discomfort or diarrhea but you can also suffer symptoms that may not seem to be gut related such as chronic fatigue, allergic reactions, inflammation, eczema, joint pain, cognitive difficulties, even fibromyalgia! A damaged gut has been linked to nutrient deficiencies, autoimmune diseases, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, and many other diseases-even cardiovascular disease and diabetes!
